SAVING WATER WITH PORTA POTTIES

Did you know that less than 1% of Earth’s water can be used for human consumption?  In fact, if all of that water were to fit into a one-gallon bucket, less than one teaspoon of that water would actually be drinkable.  Knowing this, it’s safe to say that our water supply is a scarce resource worth preserving.

As a Chicago-based sanitation company that sits only blocks away from Lake Michigan, it’s easy to forget that nearly 780 million people around the world lack access to clean water and proper sanitation. It’s also difficult to imagine that we, as a portable restroom company, can actually make a difference.  Believe it or not though – we’re making it happen – one portable restroom at a time!

Making an Impact

The toilet in your traditional home restroom uses as an average of 1.6 gallons of water per flush.  Now when you multiply that water savings over the average number of uses per toilet, things begin to add up quickly.  During our peak season, our porta potty rentals save over 2 million flushes a week…which equates to over 3 million gallons of water!

In less than two weeks’ time, we save enough water to fill the Shedd Aquarium!  In addition, portable restrooms protect our valuable water sources from the harmful effects of human contamination.

It’s been said that small adjustments can have a big impact and we’re seeing that each day. With water in scarce supply, it’s our goal to ensure future generations will have the clean water they deserve.  So next time you consider using a portable restroom, remember that you’ll be saving water too!
